Verity by Collen Hoover - #bookreview #newrelease

This was not my first Collen Hoover book but just like her other books this story felt fresh and exciting! Once I picked it up, I couldn’t put it down.

Being an Indie Release, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Would this story be something completely different than the rest of her work? Would I be turned-off because it wouldn’t feel like her familiar writing?

The answer is NO!

Lowen, a professional author who prefers to stay in shadows is suddenly thrown into a partnership with Verity, a very successful and extroverted author that will change her life forever. She’s commissioned to finish the last few books in Verity’s series when the author is bed-ridden from an auto accident, which is surprising enough given the lack of popularity for Lowen’s books.

Finding herself picking up the prices after Lowen’s mother passes away, she reluctantly accepts a meeting to discuss the partnership. With her bank account drained and an eviction notice on her door she accepts the terms that were generously suggested by Verity’s husband, Jeremy. That’s when things take a turn.

Lowen arrives at Verity and Jeremy’s residence to review and organize any notes that Verity left behind in her home office and what she finds ends up changing the lives of everyone under that roof.

I can’t write much more without giving away some major clues, but I can tell you that I give this book 10 stars out of 5! It was THAT good!

Description

Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn't expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of what really happened the day her daughter died.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

A standalone romantic thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, releasing December 18th.
